| drift course (pictured) the speeds hitting that first main turn are quite high..possibly the top of 3rd gear..traction is what is needed at those speeds..a lot of you really don't understand the physics of drifting. 
I run GoodYear F1's in the rear (Falken ST115's in front)..why? For traction at higher drift speeds..would you want a shitty tire with a poor traction rating in mid-drift at over 70mph? I don't think so..we need to control the car and it's traction to be able to put it where we want it. SO..at speeds like this more downforce is required..hence the wing...ever notice the downforce potential of most drift wings? Yes, there's a reason for it besides style.
